Baubles, Baubles!

Never underestimate the importance of jewelry when planning your attire. The nice thing is that when it comes to jewels, there are very few rules. Whether you like to mix, match and stack or go with one statement pieces, you can't go wrong with a little bling!

It's almost considered a fashion faux pas to leave your house without some sort of adornment. This doesn't mean you have to break the bank to look like a rock star! Costume jewelry is everywhere!  We are also seeing beautiful silver, gold and pieces with gems that are affordable. Here are a few ways to make a statement (or not) with your jewelry.

Go all out by stacking. I love to stack different pieces of jewelry to make for an eclectic showing! For arms, try stacking bangles and chains to create a luxe look. Mix necklaces by using a chain and then intertwining a necklace with stones or gems in it. Mix some of your smaller rings together to create an oh la la effect. The only time to shy away from this is if you are going with an over-sized bib necklace or an overpowering arm cuff. Though hard to believe, there is such a thing as overkill!

If you want to keep is simple, then stick to what you are comfortable with. Try a gold watch with a small bangle and leave your other arm empty or add a simple ring to balance out the look. Studs are amazing because of how light weight they are. Plus, a simple gold or silver stud can go with you from outfit to outfit! Go dainty with an understated gold or silver chain with a small charm. One common misconception is that you can't mix metals; GO FOR IT! Mix your gold, silver, pearls, stones...whatever! The more the merrier!

For the Holiday Party Goer

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Present wrapping, festive cookies, holiday parties! Spread good cheer with holiday attire that is just right! With so many different directions you can go, make sure you are the perfect part goer this season! Here are a few options that are sure to get you noticed!

A one shoulder dress is not only flattering, but sexy! It shows off your shoulders while still looking sophisticated. Because of this neckline, it allows your to dazzle with a bold pair of earrings to complete the look.

Going from work to play? A fitted sheath dress will transition beautifully from day to night. Try a gold or shimmery skinny belt to add definition and finish it off with a statement necklace. A sheath looks amazing with boots or pumps.

Want a fashion forward option? The peplum has been a dear friend this season! It is not only playful, but super stylish as well! Try a peplum top over a skirt or black pants. We're seeing the peplum show up in all colors and materials! Choose a holiday hue or stand-out sequins! The peplum dress is also a great option to be paired with tights (make the textured if you are wearing a solid color and no prints).

Sequins are always a holiday favorite. Depending on your event, you can keep the sequins simple or be daring with colored sequins! I'm a fan of black sequins because you can't go wrong. The color is complementary on everyone, it won't wash you out and it's the ultimate when it comes to evening attire. If you choose color sequins, I suggest a deeper or muted color. Jewel tones are amazing for the season! They offer slightly deeper hues that are appropriate for chilly weather and aren't over-doing the trend. You also don't want to outshine the hostess of the party, so keep in mind her attire.

Happy party hoping and happy holidays!

Cozy Chic

It's officially that time of year where we sip on peppermint lattes, admire lights and decorations, and officially have brought our outerwear from the closet. One essential piece to your winter wardrobe is the scarf! They come in all colors, shapes, materials and sizes and are sure to dress up or down all attire. Whether a night at the theater or a Saturday shopping date....There is a scarf for every occasion!

If you want to go the casual route, bigger is better. This allows you to wrap up over a a comfy sweater, while adding laced boots or your flat riding boots over jeans. There's also nothing easier than to forget all the tying and twisting and simply drape the scarf over your neck for a relaxed look. this is also great when wearing a necklace that you still want to be seen. For a lighter weight scarf, don't hesitate to tie a simple knot lower on your neck for an easy fix. If you are worried it's too simple, go with a vibrant color or fun print.

Many scarves are transitional and can be worn with an unfussy outfit or your LBD. To dazzle a little more than you would at afternoon coffee, select something with metallic or shimmer in the scarf. I go for something a little more light-weight so you don't overpower your head-to-toe look. To amp up your glitz, go for a sequined skinny scarf that you simple drape over your dress or blouse. Try the loop through or button hole tie when layering the scarf under a pea coat or overcoat. The only time I would suggest shying away from the scarf as an accessory is when you are wearing fur. It can become overkill.

Whatever look you are going for, the scarf is an essential piece that needs to be added to your wardrobe for the chilly days and nights ahead!

In 2007, a highly regarded designer in one of Sweden's major clothing companies, together with two ambitious colleagues  of hers, took off and created a new brand in young women's fashion. Since that day, the brand has rapidly moved in and established itself on the Scandinavian fashion scene! Monrow considers the brand as clothes for, an by, people who cherish life. Trail Blazing

The blazer: not just for your boyfriend any longer! Blazers have joined the ranks of tees and skinny jeans as style staples. This trend used to only be reserved for the workplace, but is now everywhere! True to their name, they have come blazing back into the fashion realm. Don't think of the blazer as masculine, there are many different ways to wear it, as well as many styles to select from! Shopping with girlfriends, a client lunch meeting or an evening social event, the blazer is one of the season's newest loves!

Knowing how to dress for you body type is key! (A fashion rule to live and die by!)  If you have an athletic build or broader shoulders, a cropped blazer will work well for you. A new style that creates a feminine touch as well is the cropped in the back and has the diagonal cut in the front. This adds shape to the waist and hips. Go for a look with minimal structure so you can avoid the boxy look.

Anyone who is pear shaped should avoid a crop and go for something that falls just below the hips. A lighter lapel or embellishment will also draw the eye upward and add the illusion of width to your shoulders for a more balanced look.

If you are petite, don't fret! Forget the idea that you will get lost in this over-sized jacket. Go for a more fitted style to show off your shape. You can also button the blazer to pull in at the waist.

A hot look is the boyfriend blazer! This style looks fabulous on most body types. It can be worn a variety of ways and can balance a pear shape, elongate a short torso, or provide stylish coverage to your mid-section.

Now that you have decided which will fit your body type best, time to put it all together. I truly believe the blazer can be worn with almost anything! From distressed jeans for an every day look or go with a metallic blazer over your LBD for a festive party! A long necklace looks great with a longer blazer or throw on a statement necklace with your cropped blazer. I'm a huge fan of throwing on a sequin top under a simple black blazer. It adds a fun element to a sophisticated garment.  However you choose to wear this wardrobe staple, have fun and feel confident!

Shine On

What better way to show off your holiday spirit than with sequins! Not just reserved for a black tie affair, sequins can be dressy or casual and not to mention, who can be in a bad mood when you are glittering? Here are a few tips on wearing sequins this season!

If you have slight sequin-phobia, don't worry your pretty self! Start small and incorporate accessories before you jump head first into this trend. A sequin clutch, headband or statement necklace can all serve as baby steps for the novice.

Let's begin with an every day look. You can still look casual chic and wear sequins. The trick is to pair your sequins with more casual and subtle pieces. An example is a sequin blazer with a simple black or white tee underneath and a pair of jeans. Or go the opposite way and take a solid cardigan and put it over a sequin tank or top. This will dress down the sparkle a little, but you are sure to look sassy without going overboard. For somewhere in between casual and cocktail, pair a statement sequin top with a pair of black pants. This can be great for an after work get-together or a dinner date.

Stun at your holiday cocktail party or girl's night out in all over sequins. There is a plethora of sequins out there in all colors and styles. You can't get much more glam than with a sequin dress. Go with an emerald green if color is your thing, or stick to black sequins. Keep in mind your skin tone. If you are fair, stay away from rose gold and go for a darker sequin color. The trick to this look not being over the top, is to keep in mind the length of your dress. Don't go too short! The same rule applies for a sequin skirt, which is another great party option! Dress down the sequins by adding tights. Keep accessories to a minimum and don't mix your sequins. You don't need a gold sequin purse to accompany your shining sequin attire! There is such thing as too much!

Shine on!

Fancy in Fur

You don't have to be royalty to make an entrance in fur! While I can't argue with the fact that fur is a statement piece, it's made a comeback this season. With so many faux options out there, you won't have to max out your credit card to look like a celebrity. We're seeing fur everywhere; vest, jacket, gloves, hats, scarves. Start small or go glam! Make a lasting impression and stay warm all season!

The fur vest is the most popular, especially for this time of year. It's chilly, but not so cold that you need your long coat quite yet. Turn a simple outfit into spectacular by just throwing on the vest! From pairing with your every day jeans to over your LBD, the look embodies chic! I recommend steering clear of the cropped fur vest to avoid looking a stumpy look. Go slightly longer because this will allow you to throw it on with more attire such as a mini skirt, leggings or leather pants! Leather and fur often go together and their combination is very trendy. Choose a black fur if you wear dressier attire, and go for a mix of brown or grey if you tend to go more casual.

For a feminine look, you don't have to invest in a whole fur item, you can either go for a coat or jacket with fur trim. If you have fully embraced the trend, try the trendy cropped jacket. Be advised that to cropped version looks best with a pant. Go for the more traditional longer version for a versatile look. A mid-rise jacket complements a skirt or tighter fitted pant. The long version of the fur coat transcends on more formal attire and is definitely a top pick for date night or a black tie event!

Feeling overwhelmed? Don't! If you aren't ready to take the plunge, start with fur trimmed gloves or a cozy fur scarf. No matter what fur accessories you choose, with a big smile, you are sure to look fabulous!

Good Big or Go Home

One thing most women can all agree on is that bigger is always better! Not to mention, when it comes to fashion bigger, is also more forgiving. Lucky for us the over-sized look is in! Two tops that your fall wardrobe must accommodate are the dolman sweater and tunic top. My personal fav is the dolman sweater. Because of the banded or tighter fitted waist, it still accentuates your best assets without making you look frumpy. Initially this creates the idea of a casual look, but there are ways to dress this up for an evening out!

Going for the unfussy look is simple and the easiest way to wear these over-sized tops. No matter how you pair them, make sure what you don on bottom is more snug than loose fitting. You don't want your attire to give the illusion of a giant trash bag. Go casual with a skinny jean or legging under the top. Boots or a smoking slipper will look knock-out with trying hard! Throw on a felt hat with messy hair for a more urban feel.

Going elegant is easier than you think with these tops. For an uptown feel choose heavy fabrics or opt for sequins or metallics. Lace is also super feminine and gives your outfit a certain charm. You can't go wrong with these festive and fun alternatives to your basic cotton tee for the Holidays. These tops transcend well with a black crop or ponte pant. (A ponte pant is similar to a legging, but with heavier material to look a step up from the casual black legging) If you dare, leather leggings are completely fearless and beyond hot! Zippers will spice up any pant as well!

Go big or go home ladies, because this is a must have look of the season!

Printed Pants

The arrival of chilly weather brings the inevitable need to cover up. Why not do it in style and let your legs do the talking? Start off the season with a bang and invest in a pair of printed pants! Go glam or work week chic, these are sure to make a statement!

You can start on a more subtle note by snagging a pair of black and white printed pants. Houndstooth is uber popular this season or go for a graphic print. The color scheme is a toned down version of a printed pant and YES! these can be worn to work! Add black basic pumps, a white button down, a fitted blazer and you are professional chic! Branch out a little by adding color with a bright blouse and assemble with neutral accessories.

For a more fashion forward or daring look, go for print on print! You have to be careful with this, because you don't want to go print happy! You can mix subtle and busy prints, but one HAS to be on the basic side. For example: delicate, smaller polka dots on a top can easily be tucked into your busy pants. Don't go overboard with two large prints, this won't work!

Going out with the girls? An eye-catching ensemble is the printed pant and a sequin top or blouse. You can throw a blazer over it to complete the look. A solid peplum top will add drama while still looking streamline.

This look doesn't have to be fussy. There are tons of patterned jeans out there and these can be thrown on in a second with a solid blouse or cotton shirt and flats. Add a small cross-body and you've created an irresistible ensemble.

Dare to wear the printed pant this season!

Cozy Up

Enjoy this trend while it lasts, because right now oversized sweaters are having a major moment! This fall/winter staple is one you will want to take advantage of! Not only is it easy to pull off, but super cozy! You don't have to look like a frumpy mess when you crawl into your favorite sweater. You don't have to hide your shape to embrace this your newest fashion friend. Cuddle up, and read on...

Use a wide belt with chunky hardware to belt your sweater for shape. Don't worry about wrinkles when belting, it doesn't have to be perfect. Think sloppy chic!

Put your sweater atop a crop pant. Go with black or a fun color. Because of the solid bottom, you can go wild with stripes, prints or patterns on the sweater. Pair it with a killer pair of pumps to lengthen legs. This gives a slimming effect.

For a somewhat sleeker look, go with a neutral sweater. Black, gray, brown, tan...will make your look slightly more upscale and sophisticated. To add pizzazz find ones with metallic thread woven into the fabric.

Prep things up a little by adding a collared shirt under your sweater. This gives the the piece more structure and is a good option for the work place, if you think the oversized look might be pushing it a little!

Stay warm on a chilly day with your favorite comfy sweater and leggings. Throw on a pair of boots and head out the door! This looks casual but chic and is the ultimate in comfort. Put a pair of tall socks under your boots and throw on a scarf. A slouchy bag will add the finishing touches to your urban attire!

Perks of the Poncho

It's that time of year where mornings and evenings are a little cooler and we often find ourselves layering! In the past it's been the classic cardigan or pea coat, but set your sites on the poncho this fall/winter! The poncho or cape isn't just for Halloween. The poncho has become practical and not to mention, super cozy! The cape is the ultimate in ladylike apparel and refinement. The new cape is more modern glamour girl and less superhero like!

Not only is this article easy to throw on, but it creates the ultimate shape! Throw this on over most anything! Skinny jeans, trousers, a dress and tights, leggings...the list goes on! It adds instant polish to even the most casual, thrown together look.

For Saturday brunch with the girls, go weekend chic! Put this over denim with a printed tee or blouse peaking out from underneath. Add a bootie and a mimosa and you're sure to impress!

For work days, this will become your go-to! Throw it on over tights for a super sophisticated look or your black pants. Did I mention how great the contrast of over-sized and tights or crop pants looks? The over-sized poncho is sure to create an instant slimming effect. If you are wearing a skirt or dress, make sure the hem isn't longer than the cape or poncho.

Relax a little with a poncho sweater, leggings and flats! A long necklace will finish the look while still staying casual. With your coffee in hand, there's no denying your laid back sense of style!

Jewel Tones

Take a breather from the trendy neons that we have seen all summer and soften your color palette a little and enter the realm of jewel tones! As fall gets closer and closer, don't fall into the trap of black and gray for warmer wear. These colors are empowering and highly sophisticated. With names like sapphire, amethyst, ruby and citrine,  it's hard not to feel like a million bucks! Get noticed this season and follow in the footsteps of some of our most chic celebrities such as Rachel McAdams, Reese Witherspoon, and Mila Kunis who have all rocked the dreamy color palette.

For maximum impact, wear the hues head to toe. . Totally Tribal

As we transition into Fall, there are may trends on the horizon that your wardrobe is dying for! It's time to go tribal and be bold! The tribal trend consists of strong graphic prints with an Aztec feel to them. These can be black and white or full of color!

Because the prints are oversized, they look best on simple shapes. Think a shift dress, tunic or loose chiffon blouse. When working to accessorize this look, go for natural accents such as a wooden arm bangle or brushed gold. Matte sets off the colors and will complement the prints perfectly. As the weather gets slightly cooler, opt for a different approach to your boring cable knit sweater. Try a tribal inspired poncho or cape over leggings or skinny jeans. For an ultra daring look, try a pair of waxed tribal print pants! Make sure not to go overboard with prints on this look. Go for a solid on the top and an understated flat or bootie.

If you would like to ease yourself into the trend, start by pairing an ethnic printed clutch or over the shoulder slouchy bag with your every day outfit. There are also tons of tribal bracelets that stack well with other jewelry to try!

Get inspired, go tribal!

Chambray Perfection

You've seen it everywhere! Blogs, store windows, on all the clothing racks...it's chambray! And for those of you who were wondering; cham·bray noun \ˈsham-ˌbrā, -brē\ a lightweight clothing fabric with colored warp and white filling yarms. Looks like denim, feels like cotton! Chambray shirts are totally basic and totally necessary! From dresses, to tops to skirts...this stylish fabric is calling your name!

The classic chambray shirt can easily take you from summer to fall. While it's still warm, pair it with almost any color or pattern of shorts. Tuck it in, add a belt and you're out the door! Put it with a pastel or floral skirt and flats as your transition into fall. One of my favorite looks is the chambray tunic over leggings with riding boots or a loafer. Since colored skinnys have become a wardrobe essential, a chambray top is easily integrated with all colors! The denim color can almost be considered a neutral, almost all jewelry will contrast well! Colored jewelry, silver, gold or gemstones.

A chambray skirt will look great with a solid or stripped top. Add a cardigan to balance out the look. The chambray dress is also very popular. It fits like a shirt dress and is very forgiving to any figure! For a more fitted silhouette, belt it. Add color with a scarf or bold flats. Cowboy boots are also universally flattering with chambray!

It's soft, cozy and refreshing and it comes in a dreamy palette of blues and grays. What's not to love?

Rag & Bone

Founded in 2002 by two men with no formal fashion training in Kentucky, Rag & Bone was born. The line originally began as a men's denim line, but women's fashion was launched in 2005 and took off! They believed that denim represented the history, authenticity and fundamentals of classic work wear that they would strive to reflect in their designs. 2007 marked the introduction of accessories for both men and women, adding a touch of style and distinction to their tailored look. Guided by a strong British tailoring influence, rag & bone produces classic yet modern sportswear for both men and women that is known for being understated and wearable. The brand prides itself of high quality fabric, classic construction and perfect fit with a handmade feel.

Rag & Bone is most known for their jeans, but have expanded to so much more. Bomber jackets, tailored blouses and printed pants are all among the recent collections. Celebrities adore the brand as much as we do! You can find Anna Kendrick, Mila Kunis, and Khloe Kardashian all rocking the line and loving it! Come try on a pair today! We carry a variety of washes, colors and cuts! Fall is just around the corner and jeans are an absolute staple!

Love and Lace

Lace is so trendy right now and the ultimate way to add elegance to your style. This once antique fabric is now considered uber modern. Pile it on and mix it up girl!

If you want to start using lace in a more traditional way, go for a lace dress. This is a great option for a wedding. I personally am loving to look of navy lace. Consider it as black reinvented. Take a break from the LBD and go for the NBD. Stick to a solid pump or shoe to assure a delicate contrast.

Tailoring and lace make the perfect combo. Go glam in a well cut trouser trouser with a lace top or blazer. Choosing black automatically makes lace look sexy, BUT with the huge neon trend that is out there, don't be afraid of the citrus colors! A lace skirt is sexy and chic. This often makes for a more sophisticated and dressy look, so depending on your environment, this can be a great option as well!

Lace has even been added to your favorite accessories! Go with a pair of lacy pumps under your tailored suit or a great pair of jeans. This is going to add a sense of style to an otherwise boring getup. A lace clutch works well for evening and incorporates texture.

No longer reserved for weddings, lace is showing up everywhere!

Good as Gold

Gold is one of the strongest trends on the runways for Fall. Though gold is a trend that can be worn all year long, there's no shortage of the glitter coming this Fall! Glitter equals glam and it's here to stay. Don't just consider gold as holidayware. There are many ways that you can work gold into your wardrobe for every day.

A gold top can be paired with austere hues such as army green, khaki, or black and the shades become even more brilliant. For an office environment, go with a shimmery gold top under a navy cardigan with a khaki crop. For day out put a gold top or blouse with black leggings, skinny jeans or white pants. Your gold jewelry will transcend perfectly with your outfit. When in doubt, pair gold with black.

If you have an event or party to attend, a sequined dress can make you look ultra posh. Wearing gold is show stopping and an easy alternative to the LBD. Go glam with the gold sequins. Pair this with a simple black pump and minimal jewelry. Pull your hair back in a sleek ponytail for a high fashion look. As long as you don't overuse gold, you are sure to look like a goddess!

Blazing Hot!

The blazer. It's not just considered men's work attire any longer! Introducing the boyfriend blazer. This updated version of the men's power suit is ultra chic and sleek! Among many reasons why this piece needs to find it's way into your closet, it will actually complement your shape! Since blazers cinch your waistline, you are elongating the frame. Not only is it slimming, but ultra versatile!

For a vintage inspired look, pair this with a cotton dress that is flowy and not super form fitting. This will create more of a casual appeal. Make sure the hem hits just above that of the dress. If the hem is the length of the dress or long, you are going to look sloppy and unpolished.

No doubt, the 80's has made a major comeback in the fashion world. Go with a boxy, double breasted blazer over leggings or skinny jeans. This look may sound like one for fall, but try a bright coral blazer over white skinnys for a summer chic look. The nice thing about the longer blazer is that you can hide any insecurities you may have with your thighs. (Which is most of us right?)

My ultimate favorite way to wear the blazer is cropped with a pair of tailored shorts. You can go with white shorts, printed top and solid blazer with a gold necklace. OR go printed shorts and tone it down a little with a white or navy blazer to offset your patterned shorts. Don't go overboard. At least one of your pieces needs to remain solid to avoid color or print overload! For a dressier look, finish off with a wedge. To flirt with your Bohemian side, go with strappy gladiator sandals!

Blaze a new fashion trail...

Navy: The New Neutral

Yes, the color navy has been around for quite some time, but it has become ever so prominent this spring and summer. Consider taking this classic color and replacing it for the oh so standard black that currently resides in your closet. Navy actually flatters more skin tones and is just as sophisticated at black. Navy is a practical neutral and very easily paired with almost any color combination.

Consider a navy blazer as an investment piece. This is a great look that can take you from day to night. It works in a corporate setting as well as a after dark! Put it with skinny work pants for day and change into a pair of shorts and wedges for evening!

Ditch the LBD and take a leap to the LND! I love a navy dress because it works well for so many occasions! This is one of my favorite colors to wear to a wedding. The LND can be easily dressed up or down. Color really pops when integrated with the blue! Yellow is the most complimentary color the navy. A chunky yellow necklace will add the ultimate haute style to your outfit. Also consider yellow flats or an oversized yellow envelope clutch. \

A navy top will ensure that you are ultimately chic for summer. I adore a navy top because it can go well with your white pants as well as most shades of skinny colored denim. The look is more elegant than that standard white tee. The blue hue also pairs perfectly with a colored pencil or mini skirt!

Go navy this summer! It's the new black!

Joie

Since its inception in 2001, Joie has successfully filled a void in the contemporary market. Unlike other brands, which are classification driven and offer single items such as denim or graphic tees, Joie provides the modern, fashion savvy customer with a global wardrobe. Though the company got its start with signature cargos, today it's best known for offering feminine tops, dresses and cashmere sweaters. The Joie concept has always been "Casual, Comfortable and Luxurious." Therefore, each piece that is designed encompasses a balance of these three elements...one cannot exist without the other. Headquartered in a loft in downtown Los Angeles, the goal is to continue success while progressively evolving the brand.

We have selected our favorite pieces from the Joie line to carry in the store. These include silk tops, every day soft tees, and classic summer dresses. The tops can easily be thrown on with a pair of our Rag and Bone jeans in all different colors or one of our newest BB Dakota skirts! Our metallic Dolce Vita gladiator sandals are the perfect finish to a summer chic outfit!

Make A Statement

Don't be shy, bring a wow factor to your outfit! A statement necklace has become a must-have accessory! Not only for an elegant occasion anymore, you can even pair with your favorite tee. Not only has a chunky necklace become a popular item, it can also be an inexpensive way to dress up your outfit. The popularity of a statement necklace has been around for the past few seasons and has proven that it's here to stay! Here are a few ways you and mix and match to look fabulous!

You can almost always add some bling to an open neckline such as the v-neck or a strapless dress. This gives you the opportunity to add texture and color! This might be the most simplistic way to add in your statement necklace. Keep in mind that a shorter necklace can be more flattering on these types of necklines. Try to keep it slightly above the neckline or just below.

Do collared shirts bore you? Add a shiny necklace around the collar to add some pizzazz to your every day work attire. With a higher neckline, you can go for a longer necklace. It may seem like a bit much, but statement necklaces can also complement ruffles, pleats or sequins tops.

Introducing Jay Godfrey

New York-based designer Jay Godfrey is the founder and creative director behind his eponymous collection of sleek, sexy and sophisticated designs. Perpetually inspired by the chic New York woman, Godfrey’s goal as a designer is to meld the classic tailoring techniques of Savile Row with modern silhouettes and luxurious fabrics. The result is his distinctive contemporary collection of dresses and separates that accentuate the female figure.
Godfrey realized his dream of becoming a designer while working his first summer job at Hugo Boss. He studied finance at Montreal’s McGill University in order to gain a grounding in business and accounting. Upon graduating, Godfrey headed to Wall Street and worked for Citigroup. While learning the finer points of finance, Jay’s goal of designing a collection led him to Parsons School of Design. An internship with Oscar de la Renta fine-tuned the young designer’s style and technique, and helped him determine the ultimate Jay Godfrey woman.
We have tons of new arrivals from Jay Godfrey including an amazing yellow and gray ikat halter dress that is perfect for a summer party or cocktail hour. Dazzle on a red maxi that can be easy dressed up for an elegant event. We are loving our one shoulder kimono sleeve Godfrey dress in magenta! We also carry Jay Godfrey classics and basics with a touch of style such as our royal blue blouse with cut out sleeves! Our newest arrivals are selling quick, so come play dress up with us!

Trendy Tunics

The tunic is a piece that we are seeing everywhere and on everyone! Probably because it flatters almost all body types! It can be dressy or casual and with summer right around the corner, we are seeing tunics of all colors, adorned tunics and even the beach cover-up tunic! As the warm weather arrives, here are a few ways to look totally chic in a tunic!

To dress up a tunic, look for a shear or silk material. A chiffon tunic is not only breathable, but very comfortable! Silk tunics can be equally comfortable and are also appropriate for dressier occasions. If you go with the chiffon, you can layer a light weight tank under it. When you're looking for a more formal look but are free to do away with a blazer or suit, try a loose blouse-style tunic with three-quarter length sleeves. You can pair this with a pencil skirt and a pair of wedge heels for a stylish and contemporary look.

Go flirty by putting your tunic over leggings and adding a pair of wedges. They also look great over skinny jeans! If you go with a wild print, stay classic with the jewelry. If your tunic is solid, you can play around with color!

For a more urban and sporty look, try a sleeveless tunic and pair with gladiator sandals. You can even layer on a sleeveless denim vest to go ultra hipster. Add small gold bangles up your arm and you are good to go!

Commencement Couture

Congratulations! You made it! Graduation is a time of commencement and looking forward to your future. For such a big day, you want to make sure you will look amazing in all of those photos that are going to be taken. There are a few things to keep in mind on your special day!

If you are wearing white as your graduation dress, this gives you tons of opportunity to accessorize. Make a statement with a bold piece of jewelry or by wearing a bright pair of shoes! Try any of our pieces of Sweetie Pie or Sylvia Benson jewelry. A chunky necklace is the perfect pieces if you have a V'd or scooped neckline. If the necking is higher, opt for dangley earrings and a cocktail ring. Also good with a higher neckline is a longer necklace with a charm or design.

If you go with a busy printed dress, take it easy on the jewelry. Go with only one larger piece, if any. Stick to delicate and feminine pieces in order to avoid over powering the dress itself. The same goes for shoes. Basic is best when you have a lot going on within the dress itself. Choose one color out of the dress and stick with that solid color with shoes. A nude pump, wedge or sandal is a summer staple that will most likely work with any outfit!

Anna & Alice carries all of your favorite brands and many different style. From a white lace dress to a printed faux wrap Parker dress, we are your one stop graduation stop! Stock up on jewelry that is sure to make a statement! Happy graduation weekend! Celebrate, you deserve it!

Sparkle in Syliva Benson

Have the perfect outfit, but aren't sure of what jewelry to wear? Sylvia Benson's designs are sure to catch your eye! From bamboo bracelets to coral earrings, she carries an array of styles that exemplify creative art work. You will see many stylish girls wearing the basket-weave earrings around Raleigh. They are the ideal piece that can be dressed up or down and paired with almost any outfit. There is so much more to Sylvia Benson than that though! You can find eclectic pendents or bright necklaces.

You can make a great impression by wearing the right piece of jewelry. Regardless of the occasion, you can choose the right piece to make you stand out! I think of jewelry as the finish to an outfit. A rule of thumb is that a woman should wear the jewelry, it shouldn't wear her. Here are a few tips! Big and bold is fabulous, but it can be considered overboard at times. If you're going to wear large bangles or necklaces, don't wear delicate jewelry also. Try to stick to a solid color, simple clothes rather that frills or prints. Big, bold jewelry should be the focal point of your outfit. Mix metals, but not styles. It's okay to wear gold and silver jewelry together, but keep to the same style. Make sure to wear the right length. A necklace that falls just below the collarbone  goes better with a plunging neckline than a high one. A necklace that falls below the bust, goes with a high neckline.

Our collection of Sylvia Benson jewelry has everything from brights to whites, gold, silver and everything in between. Whether you are looking for a classic gold hoop or a bright turquoise statement necklace, accessorizing is a must!

Wow in One Shoulder

The one shoulder trend is one of the most popular this season and it looks like it's here to stay! This sophisticated and chic look is one that can take you easily from day to night. It can be a casual white one shoulder top with jeans or a ruffle one shoulder on a cocktail dress. This asymmetrical style is able to showcase the upper body while still creating the perfect backdrop for statement jewelry such as large earrings. The one shoulder is flattering on almost all body types because you still have the ability to play around with color, weight, and embellishments. Obviously, the more that goes on the sleeve, the dressier it becomes.

If you are larger in the middle, stick with the one shoulder top. You can choose something that is flowly through the middle and go with a stand out color! If you aren't comfortable with your arms, go with the flutter sleeve. It will help avoid any unwanted attention to that area. If you want to draw attention upward, go with ruffles or a busy sleeve. A one shoulder is known to highlight areas such as your collarbone, neck, shoulders and face. The one shoulder dress has become popular cocktail attire as well! A one shoulder LBD is always a great addition to your closet!

We are loving all of the styles we have rolling in at Anna & Alice! Feel flirty in our one shoulder kimono or stay polished in our Jay Godfrey magenta one shoulder! Stay one shoulder wonderful!

The Seasonal Scarf

Gone are the days of wrapping up in an over-sized cozy scarf. Say hello to the spring/summer scarf! As we transition into the warmer spring weather, it is the perfect time to break out a lightweight scarf for chilly mornings and sunny afternoons! We are carrying scarves in every color! Some with fringe, a little sparkle, or wild prints! This adornment can add some "umph" to any outfit!

The warmer the weather, go with a lighter fabric. Linen is always a good and cool choice. Pick a solid color to represent your favorite team! If you're looking for a way to dress up a white shirt or tank, go bold with stand out prints and fringe. The ombre scarf is becoming more and more popular and are available in many different colors. Dress things up by adding a touch of metallic. When wearing a scarf, don't over-do the look by adding large earrings. Stick with a bright stud or simple hoops.

Tying a scarf is an art in itself! There is the infinity style, where you drape the scarf around your neck and bring the ends back up and tuck them in to create the look of one connected piece of fabric. Place the scarf on your neck with the ends on your back and bring them back around and let them hang. You can always simply knot the scarf in the front or drape it on your shoulders without doing anything to it for a more relaxed look.  Stop in the store to try on your best scarf look!

Color Concoctions

It's time to celebrate! As March 21st rolled around we can officially retire our wool sweaters and turtlenecks! Break out the brights because the spring season is full of color! New shipments have been rolling in and with each box we open we are seeing more and more neons, yellows, greens and so much color we can barely stand it! Go ahead and get used to the idea of color blocking because it is showing up everywhere! Start with two colors, one slightly more neutral than the other. For example, if you have lime green top, block it with a darker hue on the bottom such as a deeper royal blue or navy. You can still pull in other shades, just be careful not to over-do it! If you have a lot of color throughout your outfit, make sure your shoe is a neutral. A safe choice is a nude pump or wedge. If you are a little more shy with color blocking, start by adding the pops of color through your accessories. A hot pink bangle, electric blue skinny belt, or  tangerine earrings will do the trick. You can also go bright with a great pair of colored flats or a great tinted bag.

Stop in today to see our newest arrivals. Our latest designers to come in with great hues include Jay Godfrey Yoana Baracshi, Patterson J Kincaid, and Drew! Come and add this amazing trend to your wardrobe before the color fades!

Perfect in Parker

Attention all you Parker fans, we've got shipments in! Parker is an amazing line that has a little of everything! One of the more popular items that Parker is known for is their beautifully colored and uniquely printed silk tops. They are loosely fitted and often have less than traditional prints on them such as animals or one of a kind tribal patterns. Their dresses are similar to the drape top with the same silk feel and distinguished prints. The line works with many different body shapes by incorporating pleats, flared sleeves, and a relaxed fit. You can find everything from a wrap dress to a maxi skirt.

Any fan of Parker knows that this line can take you from day to night. Much of the line is casual, but Parker also carries "night on the town" wear that includes sequins and short hem lines! If sequins aren't your thing, opt for an open back dress or bustier that can be paired with jeans or black pants! Anna & Alice is proud to carry Parker and can't wait for you to stop in and try this great line!

The entire line is completely affordable and versatile. Much of the attire can be day to night. We are seeing dresses paired with biker boots to pumps!
